It’s that time again! Ridin’ High Playday season officially got kicked off yesterday, after the first couple were cancelled due to the rain. Though it was a bit warm out, that did not deter the determined cowboys and cowgirls from showin’ off their skills in the arena! We even got a special message from Eddie Sutton, called “A God Shaped Hole.” To sum it up for you, in case you missed it, we are all born with holes in our hearts, that we try to fill in many earthly ways. However, that hole has God’s shape, and only He can fill it!
In this mornin’s service, Brother Clay read the kiddos a poem called “The Story Book” out of the book, The Way for Cowboys ,and referenced verses from John 20:29-31. He reminded them that the Good Book is a book of both stories and history, and that by followin’ it’s words, they can have a place in Heaven!
We got a real treat for a sermon today! Brother Thomas Brockway was on deck to give his message that was titled “Don’t put your Faith in Man.” The story on what inspired his message was a real knee-slapper, so if you weren’t there to hear it, you’ll just have to ask him about it! His message was about what happens when you place your trust in your fellow man, or in earthly abilities. Those have a tendency to fail, time and time again. Instead, your Faith should belong to God. He is the only one who can inspire change in us, and He is the only one who can lead us in the paths of righteousness. It matters not what sins you have committed, for we are surely born into sin. God’s Word, acceptance and belief in His son, Jesus Christ, is all the help we’ll ever need for living a fulfilled and blessed life!
Psalms 37:1-7 says: “Don't be upset because of evil people. Don't be jealous of those who do wrong, because like the grass, they will soon dry up. Like green plants, they will soon die away. Trust the Lord and do good. Live in the land and feed on truth. Enjoy serving the Lord, and he will give you what you want.
Depend on the Lord; trust him, and he will take care of you. Then your goodness will shine like the sun, and your fairness like the noonday sun. Wait and trust the Lord. Don't be upset when others get rich or when someone else's plans succeed.”
This next Sunday is the 4th of July, and services will be held at the new RHCC property on FM 35. There will be a sermon, picnic, homemade ice cream, and not to mention tons of fun! Bring your chairs, horses or blankets and get ready to celebrate our freedom in God’s way in the place He provided!
Thanks to all our great leaders who made this week such a success!!! Ridin’ High is truly blessed! |
